Vitendo logoVitendo Delivers Industry's First UMA Softphone

Vitendo started the new year off with a bang by announcing its vFone 4.0, the industry’s first UMA-based softphone for PC applications. vFone 4.0 offers the look and features of a cellphone, allowing end users to make and receive calls and SMS from their laptops/desktops, while maintaining a unique identity on the network.

vFone 4.0 is available on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

"The UMA Softphone is a perfect platform to accelerate any FMC deployment and allow cellular operators to compete with peer-to-peer offerings that will stay 'unconverged' for the foreseeable future,” said Bernard Debbash, Vitendo's president and CEO.

vFone 4.0 feature set includes:
• Standard’s compliant, comprehensive suite of GSM and IPSec protocols
• Worldwide interoperability with existing UMA deployments
• Patent-pending zero install architecture allows on-the-go deployments on USB flash drives and SIM card holders
• High-quality voice engine provides toll grade voice quality
• Skinable user interface allows OEM’s to customize the look and feel of vFone to match their branding needs.
