T-Mobile Launches Home Phone Service Nationwide

Today T-Mobile announced plans to make its innovative fixed-line home phone service available nationwide starting July 2. The service, called "T-Mobile @Home" has been in limited commercial deployment in Seattle and Dallas for several months. 

The concept is simple, take home the new Linksys terminal adaptor with UMA technology, plug it into your broadband connection, and voila, fixed line voice service in the home, driven from the mobile core network.

For mobile operators, there are numerous benefits beyond the obvious, but states that 45% of users of the service in Seattle and Dallas had switched from other mobile operators. Maybe home phone service is the next killer application for mobile operators.
