Spanish Operator, ONO, Launches UMA Service

Executives from Spanish operator, ONO, nearly stormed the UMA Today stand during Mobile World Congress 2008, eager to share the news of their new dual-mode handset service based on UMA technology. ONO is a quad-play competitive provider in Spain, offering mobile, fixed, broadband and television services.

ONO’s new service, called “io”, offers consumers the same rate on calls to fixed and mobile lines 24 hours a day. From Wi-Fi, ONO offers FREE calls to other ONO mobile or fixed lines, and just 0.11€/minute on calls to other Spanish operators.

Outside the home, ONO still offers free calls to other ONO mobile or fixed lines, and a flat rate of 0.15€/minute on calls to fixed and mobile lines in Spain.

Currently, ONO's io subscribers can purchase Samsung and Nokia handsets, and more phones are coming soon.
