Autumn is Cooking: RIM's First Flip Blackberry is Here and UMA Enabled
These September announcements are a good indicator that Q4 2008 will exceed expectations for new UMA devices. RIM has just unveiled the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 smartphone, the first flip BlackBerry phone. The UMA-enabled quad-band EDGE-based device weighs only 3.6 ounces and measures approximately 3.9" x 1.9" x 0.7."
The top-of-the-line device has too many features to list all of them here. Some of the highlights are two high-res, light-sensing color displays, an external LCD to easily preview incoming messages and call and a 240x320-pixel internal LCD. The 900 mAhr battery provides four hours of talk time and over 14 days of standby time.
Plus, the phone has a number of multimedia, camera and recording features. It has GPS, BlackBerry maps and mobile streaming. You can read the long list of features and specifications on RIM's site.
The 8220 flip will be available in the United States exclusively from T-Mobile beginning soon, as well as with other carriers worldwide. No other specific information is available yet.
