Kineto Device Developer Products
Kineto Wireless is the leading supplier of 3G/2.5G UMA/GAN standards-compliant device client software. The Kineto software is currently deployed in handsets from Samsung, SIM Technology and LG Electronics as well as UMA-enabled terminal adaptors from a major consumer electronics manufacturer. For companies interested in developing devices, the Kineto software is currently available for mobile platforms from Comneon, Infineon, Philips, Texas Instruments and TTPCom.
To support device and platform vendors with software-integration support, Kineto provides a comprehensive device developer program designed to accelerate UMA/GAN-enabled devices to market. The UMA client software consists of four client modules.
The Core Module resides on the base-band processor and interacts with the cellular RR/RLC/RRC layers.
The IP Adaptor Module resides in the IP subsystem and provides the interfaces with TCP, UDP, Wi-Fi and voice connection.
The optional Voice Connection Module provides advanced VoIP packet processing and jitter buffer management designed to improve voice quality.
The optional IPSec Module encapsulates the cellular circuit and packet traffic into the UMA standard IPSec VPN tunnel.
Software Features
Highly Portable: The Kineto UMA client is highly portable, having been adapted to many mobile platforms to date, with a proven suite of porting tools. The software supports single and dual processor architectures to provide maximum device flexibility. With its small footprint, the client can easily support 3G/2.5G cellular devices as well as PDAs and UMA cordless phones. The client also supports UMA terminal adaptors. For more information on the use of terminal adaptors by mobile operators, download Kineto's whitepaper UMA for Fixed-Line VoIP Services.
Optimized for Low Power: The Kineto UMA client has been optimized for low-power consumption. The client has a very low MIPS requirement and fully leverages hardware sleep/stand-by modes. The client software includes optimized Wi-Fi connection management and intelligent Wi-Fi radio control algorithms specifically designed to optimize the performance/power trade-offs of a dual-mode device.
Robust, Proven Design: The Kineto UMA client has proven interoperability with every UMA Network Controller (UNC) available on the market today. The software supports dual-mode (cellular/Wi-Fi) and tri-mode (3G, 2.5G, Wi-Fi) operation today. The Kineto UMA client is fully compatible with SIP and IMS applications. |
